Winter Wanderings

February began with a quick trip to Park City for lunch at our favorite diner and a walk in the snow and sunshine.

The good news--we have plenty of snow with more on the way.

In late January we switched out the soft top for a new hard top which will be more secure for trips and have easier rear cargo access for Costco runs.



In mid January we joined Matt, Julie and the kids for our annual visit to the Utah Auto Show.  More photos are available at:  Friends & Family>Rob & LuJean>2019 Auto Show

Out and about in the Jeep

    

In early September we enjoyed a brief get-away in Park City thanks to LuJean's sister who had several unused nights at The Miners Club -- thanks Beth!!

 

In early October we returned to the North Fork of American Fork Canyon to check on the autumn leaves and see if there was any water left in the reservoir at Silver Lake Flat after the hot, dry summer.  Very little water, but beautiful colors.

Late September Adventures

September 28th Matt, Julie, Spencer & Maddie backpacked into Coyote Gulch for a two night stay at Jacob Hamblin Arch.  Photos of their adventure are at: Friends & Family > Julie's Album

September 24th Rob & LuJean traveled to Grand Teton National Park for a three night stay in search of autumn colors.  See:  Outings > Photo Field Trips > 2018 Teton Autumn

Moab & Telluride with Matt, Julie and the kids

July 23rd thru 27th we enjoyed a Jeep adventure that took us to Moab and the White Rim, as well as Telluride and Imogene Pass.

Bear Lake & Albian Basin

July 14th was Beth's biennial family get together at the North Shore of Bear Lake.
We joined Matt, Julie and the kids for raspberry shakes in Garden City - yum!

July 20th we did an early morning Jeep trip to Albian Basin to check out the wild flowers and escape the summer heat.

Jeep Outing - Brighton to American Fork Canyon

June 28th LuJean and I packed a picnic, climbed into Smokey and headed for Brighton, with a stop at the Silver Fork Lodge for breakfast.

From Brighton we drove up to Guardsman Pass, than down to Midway, and then up Snake Creek Canyon to the ridge above the North Fork of American Fork Canyon.

On the right is a view of Mount Timpanogos with Tibble Fork Reservoir.  When we arrived at Tibble Fork we did a side trip that took us up to Silver Lake Flats (above) where we had lunch.

It was a welcome break for the valley heat, although the roads were often rough and dusty but better than in the 1960s when Tom and I explored the area.  It was good to see access to Mineral Basin and Mary Ellen Gulch remains open.

This would be a fine loop in the autumn.
